Namaste!
Jaipur, known as the pink city, is a busy city with 2.5 million (people who mostly wanted to sell us something) we took a tuk-tuk ride to the Amber Palace, perched high above the city and walked to the neighbouring fort of Jaigarth, the surrounding views were stunning. We also had an evening drive to visit to a local sun temple, where we were 'bundi'ed' by a princess. Leaving for Jodhpur the train was only 1.5hours late, things are getting better! Jodhpur is smaller and friendly with local street markets and colourful crafts on display everywhere. We are staying at Yogis guest house which is a 500 year old Havei, in blue, yes, you've guessed it, this is the blue city. It also has a fine fort, which we can see from our rooftop restaurant, where we were serenaded with fireworks, or was that the 2 day Sikh festival? We visited the Fort yesterday and the museum and rooms (laid out as they were when they were used) were beautiful and very interesting, Paul particularly enjoyed the weapons of daggers and swords, while Linda liked the mirrored rooms with gold and stained glass shiny stuff. Off to the desert tomorrow..
